Sisal

Sisal is a strong, stable and versatile material.
Sisal carpets are naturally sound-absorbing, anti-static, and extremely
durable because of the inherent qualities of this tough, hard-wearing
fiber.
Sisal fiber is obtained from the Agave plant which grows in sub-tropical
regions around the world. Ours comes primarily from East African
plantations in Tanzania, Kenya, and Mozambique. These plantations
produce the world's highest quality sisal with the longest, finest,
and whitest fibers. The high quality of the fibers allow the Sisal
to be spun into smooth textured yarn, and woven into broadloom on
modern power looms.
Seagrass
Seagrass is a salt marsh grass grown in paddy
fields primarily in Southeast Asia. Our seagrass is imported directly
from China. Seagrass reeds are thick and rigid. The skin is non-porous
and smooth to the touch and gives a slight natural sheen. After
harvesting the long strands of seagrass are dried and spun into
yarns. The yarns are then woven into a variety of designs to produce
a smooth broadloom with a long lasting finish. Seagrass is only
available in its natural color, which has an organic, green cast
and becomes less green overtime. It is a stable, almost impermeable,
fiber which is highly resistant to stains and dirt.
Coir
Coir is made from the fibrous husk of a coconut.
The material is naturally resilient and durable. To separate the
white fibres, the husks are suspended in a river or water-filled
pit for up to ten months. During this time micro-organisms break
down the plant tissues surrounding the fibres to loosen them - a
process known as retting. The retted husks are then beaten with
wooden Mallets manually, to produce the golden fibre. The fibre
is later spun in to yarns on traditional spinning wheel called "Raatts"
and making it ready for weaving in to floor coverings. The natural
resilience and durability of this material make it especially desirable
for rugs.
Bamboo

Perfect for stylish flooring in high-traffic
areas. Bamboo Rugs can be placed anywhere you want an attractive
and elegant "wood" surface. Bamboo is attractive as an
interior design material as well as being very hard, strong, and
dimensionally stable. Not actually wood, but technically grass,
it is made from the parge timber Bamboo and comes from an area called
the sea of Bamboo in China. The plant, which is underground sends
up shafts analogous to the blades of grass and can be harvested
in as little as two years without affecting the plant. It is the
only wood with a class 1 fire rating.
Now 21 years! Serving Customer's in Spain. From Malaga to Gibraltar.
Family run,
our business started with small beginnings
back in 1978. We offered our services as a carpet fitting and planning
company and was soon undertaking work for many well known high street
establishments, myself and my wife, staying up many a night hand
sewing 27inch wide carpet together, ready for fitting the next day.
26 years
later and we are still sewing, although we
have a little help now. We believe our success has been due to the
high standard of workmanship and service we have given over the
years, along with the support of our many, many, customers and we
would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you.
Please use this web-site
as an introduction to the materials we use
in making tailor made rugs. Each rug is hand made to your own size
and color and not mass produced. The combination of colors and textures
are many. Much of of the materials you see here are in stock.
Pictures are not like the real thing. We
would be happy to visit your home and bring along a full selection
of samples.
